Recent Research Methods Tutor Class Reviews

Dr Steve - Suzanne- Research Methods - Undergraduate
25th November 2024
Talking through progress in last month - have edited 5 chapters and "lost" 15,000 words. This follows a directive from my research supervisors to 1. Edit and 2. Send all 5 chapters to them by mid December. Talking through the process with Dr. Steve. Asking grammatical questions such as indenting and the protocol, headings and the protocol. Preparing for the future in our work together - negotiating the marking of the draft conclusion once it is written (post the sending of 5 chapters to supervisors). Will send first draft of conclusion by January to Dr Steve two weeks before our January meeting. Updating on my positionality re the viva and dates for it. Discussing spending our sessions as of February 2025 as mini vivas for the ensuing months post end of January. Discussing the structure of the conclusion and what goes where. The importance of The Lampton Worm to my process - an' it grew, an' it grew, an' it grew, an' it grew, an' it grew to an aaful size, t'ad geet big teeth and geet big nose and geet big goggly eyes...

Ruwayda is very helpful and allowed me to understand the concept of mediation and logistic regression. The session was very effective
Dr Steve - Suzanne- Research Methods - Undergraduate
28th October 2024
Excellent session helping me to understand the structure and content of the various parts of the methodology section. I think I had got entangled with having all the components in place, but they were somewhat mixed up and needed ordering which we did together. Also the doing of the research was in a separate section and Dr Steve helped me ensure that the theory came first as an explanation of what I was going to do, and it needs to be followed immediately by WHAT I did in practice. Really good session and very helpful, encouraging and supportive. Thank you.

2nd September 2024
Updating Dr Steve on my progress. I have sent the conceptual framework (which was the key to understanding the data analysis) to supervisors with a few changes recommended. I have moved fully now into the data analysis. Discussing all of this with DFr Steve and the structuring of certain parts where I was unsure. Talking through the subconclusion to the findings and analysis and what belongs there, and what goes into the final conclusion. Very helpful to have this clarity.

Amelia has been amazing throughout process! Welcoming, understanding, very knowledgeable and great tutor. Has put lots into perspective for me to continue with my studies. Thanks so much
Dr Steve - Suzanne- Research Methods - Undergraduate
5th August 2024
Excellent session - updating Dr Steve on my own journey and a crossroads I reached with a choice of the EdD continuum, or a work continuum. I needed help to make that decision in the interim, and am now taking a LOA from my working life and ploughing on with renewed enthusiasm with the EdD. Dr Steve understood this choice immediately. Going through the conceptual framework - I sent a first draft to Steve today. Excellent helpful feedback from Dr Steve and a really hopeful discussion together. I am very happy.

Dr Steve is incredibly knowledgeable and as a result, can provide a fantastic level of support. The sessions are really helping my studies!
Dr Steve - Suzanne- Research Methods - Undergraduate
8th July 2024
Class was excellent - only issue worth mentioning is the sound failed quite a few times and interrupted continuity. Looking at my progress thus far and the "lighter" tasks completed over the past month due to being distracted by a family issue. Spending the majority of the session discussing the coming together of the conceptual framework and bouncing off ideas with Dr Steve, and having suggestions made by him. Very positive and interactive session.
