About Me
I have been teaching Science successfully for 14 years and take great pride in delivering an outstanding learning experience for my students. I have had experience of being a Head of Science for a number of years and so I have a strong understanding of all aspects of different Science specifications and examination requirements. I am a Lead Practitioner for Science which means I have been recognised for my expertise in Science education and have contributed to the development of effective teaching, learning and assessment practices within the field. In my spare time I enjoy travelling, football, eating out, playing with my cat Stanley and CrossFit.
My approachable, friendly, and down-to-earth demeanour helps build rapport and confidence in my students which significantly enhances the likelihood of academic success. I consider factors such as age, experience, starting level, and individual needs when teaching. I'm diligent and flexible, constantly seeking new and effective methods to achieve desired outcomes for my students.
Tutor Experience
I possess significant expertise in utilising online platforms for tutoring, ensuring the establishment of a smooth and engaging learning atmosphere. By employing virtual whiteboards, graphic pads, video conferencing, and screen sharing, I deliver dynamic and interactive lessons that go beyond the constraints of conventional classroom environments. This approach allows my students to enjoy the convenience and flexibility of online tutoring while receiving high-quality, personalised instruction.
I have taught Combined Science, Biology, Chemistry and Physics in secondary schools and sixth form colleges over the last 14 years.
I am dedicated to providing high-quality Science education and support to students of all abilities. By targeting identified weaknesses, addressing the specifics of the examination specification and using a SMART, tailored learning approach, I nurture and develop effective examination strategies and techniques through modelling how to problem solve and answer challenging questions. I also take deep pride in fostering a love for my subject, and a love for learning in general.
