Hi! I graduated with a first-class masters in physics from the University of Oxford in July 2025 and am currently working as a laser scientist at the Central Laser Facility. I will start a PhD in the Oxford Particle Physics Department in October, focussing on plasma-wakefield acceleration. This is a novel method of accelerating particles by making them 'surf' on a wave produced in a plasma and would have wide-ranging applications in areas such as medicine and large-scale particle physics experiments. I love developing new technologies and trying to improve our understanding of how the universe works.
I have over 500 hours experience tutoring physics and mathematics to students aged from 11-18 with a wide range of abilities. I tailor each session to the individual needs of the student and break down difficult concepts into manageable pieces. I like to relate concepts to real-world examples where possible and aim to maintain a supportive atmosphere in order to get the most out of every student.
I also have experience supporting students with university applications, including help with personal statements, mock interviews and the Physics Aptitude Test (PAT). Having been through the process myself, I know what admissions tutors are looking for and am keen to share this knowledge with prospective applicants.
MATHS - familiar with GCSE and A Level content from all major exam boards
PHYSICS A LEVEL - most familiar with the AQA exam board but easily able to adapt teaching sessions to other major exam boards
OXBRIDGE ADMISSIONS - able to provide help with personal statements, mock interviews and PAT and ENGAA entrance exams
Good first lesson. Thank you Meg!
The best review I can leave is that my son, 17 year old 1st year A level student, absolutely enjoys her sessions, he feels she is approachable and human. He finishes each session with total understanding and a smile on his face! From a parents perspective I know she will keep him focused, on track and provide a fabulous level of tutoring in both Math and Physics. I find Meg easy to chat to and very accommodating, nothing is too much trouble. We have increased our tutoring hours too! Meg is passionate about physics and has turned my boy around from being stressed out to totally immersed again. I cannot recommend this super smart lady highly enough.
My daughter struggled with her A level assessments and needed to resit to transition to the second year. Meg has helped by explaining topics and breaking down how to approach questions. My daughter has found this useful and went on to pass her assessments with flying colours. Each week she covered different areas in Pure Math, Applied Math and Physics. I am extremely grateful for her polite, calm, reassuring approach and her knowledge in the above subject areas.
