A published mathematician and student of pure mathematics for over 15 years, I have always been passionate about learning maths and finding the simplest or most approachable perspective for every concept. I have 3 postgraduate degrees in separate fields (differential equations, combinatorics, and category theory), making me uniquely capable of fitting concepts into the "bigger picture", no matter the background of my student.
Since completing my undergraduate degree over 10 years ago, I have worked for several universities and prestigious education institutions, guiding students through teaching and assessment. To help me reach more students, I also took up private tutoring on platforms such as Spires, where the 1-1 environment allows student and teacher engagement far superior to the classroom setting.
As my student, you can expect a challenging but productive learning environment, tailored to your needs and experience. I firmly believe that every student is capable of excelling with the right combination of material, teaching, and motivation, and I aim to provide the best possible environment to help you achieve your goals. The rest is up to you!
I have 10 years (with 1000h+) experience teaching undergraduate (and more recently postgraduate) mathematics courses from universities all around the world, including:
• Linear and Abstract Algebra, Analysis I and II, Differential equations (Warwick)
• Topology and Group Theory (Birkbeck, London)
• Complex Analysis, Algebra, Mathematical Physics, ODEs, and Statistics (Queensland)
• Differential equation, Number theory, and Vector Calculus (Leicester)
• Metric & Hilbert spaces, and Category theory (Melbourne)
As a university teaching assistant I have taught undergraduate classes, assisted with the creation of assessment, and marked assignments and exams. As a private tutor I have guided hundreds of students to success in a 1 on 1 or small group environment.
Although I am confident in teaching almost any undergraduate mathematics subject, my research has given me particular expertise in the following topics:
• Discrete Mathematics
• Calculus and Linear algebra
• Mathematical analysis (ODEs, PDEs, complex, etc)
• Abstract algebra and Number Theory
I can also assist with the following subjects at postgraduate level by arrangement (depending on the exact content):
• Category theory
• Homological algebra
• Group theory
• Measure theory
Enjoyed every minute of today's class! Now I know the rigorous definition of a line and understand the problem with the definition that I constructed. A fix was left as an exercise.
Adam is one of the best tutors I have every had! He has helped me with several modules in BSc Maths and thesis for my degree. His lessons are very thorough and he prepares for every lesson with examples and ways of visualizing the problem. If you are looking for a tutor you have found the best one!
We discussed some recent proofs of mine. Adam praised the logical soundness of them but also demonstrated how to make them much shorter.
Adam completely clarified the issues I was having with coding
We looked at matrix applications in ODEs, and analysis , Adam referred me to additional notes which are very helpful
we looked through some topics in rings theory. The tutor method helps me to understand correctly and how to thinking to problem in simple way.
Many thank you for the tutor to help me in some topics in rings theory with hints and comments.
Adam is a great teacher, as he explains everything in a way that is very understandable, even with complex topics. The way he teaches is logical and effective. He's very supportive during the learning process.
Brilliant clear explanations!
Great Adam was very helpful!
“Adam is an excellent tutor and helped me when I was in trouble with exams, we had an intensive 4 week course in which Adam helped me understand majority of topics in 4 modules as well as cover past papers. Definitely helped me achieve the grade I needed.” — Karan, Mathematics student at the University of Leicester
