Since graduating from Oxford, I have thrown myself into tutoring whilst also travelling the world. Over the past year and a half, I have spent time in Spain, France, and South America; I love learning about different cultures and meeting people from all over the world.
The pursuit of a better world has always been my passion; at university, I was the founding president of the Oxford Feminist Society and I continue to fight for social and environmental causes including through my current work with the Reclaim our Seas campaign. I believe that educating the next generation is the key to creating positive, long-lasting change, thus tutoring allows me to use my teaching skills and academic knowledge to contribute to a better future. Alongside my paid tutoring I also volunteer with the Foundation Access Scheme to provide support to students from disadvantaged backgrounds in an effort to address education inequalities.
I have been tutoring Oxbridge admissions for three full admissions cycles, both with UniAdmissions and privately, and I have experience providing personal statement, TSA, and interview preparation support to students applying to both Oxford and Cambridge. For Uniadmissions alone, I have provided over 800 hours of tutoring to over 100 students; over the last three years I have also led several full-day courses on the TSA, as well as over 800 hours privately. Through this experience, I have built up a bank of resources and knowledge for supporting students in the application process. I take pride in my track record of supporting successful applications, as every student I tutored for 15 hours or more received offers to their chosen universities last year. With my help, students are able to demonstrate their full potential and there is nothing I love more than hearing about a student achieving an offer from the university of their dreams.
Privately, I have provided tutoring in a range of subjects including English, Economics, and Spanish. In 2019, I worked for a family in Madrid, Spain, providing 15 hours of English tutoring a week to three children (aged 6, 13, and 15). Last year, I worked as a live-in tutor for another family in Madrid, in this role I provided English tutoring to their three children (aged 9, 11, and 13). I prepared activities tailored to the students’ weaknesses and kept them engaged with games and subjects that they found interesting whilst tailoring the lessons to fit with the curriculum the students followed in school. Alongside this, I completed my level 5 TEFL qualification which gave me new approaches to teaching and lesson planning, further evolving my tutoring practice.
I specialise in supporting students with the TSA as well as helping them with personal statement writing and interview practice. I offer this support to students applying for a range of subjects including PPE, Economics, and Economics and Management.
Furthermore, I offer support in Politics, Philosophy and Economics up to A level and History and Spanish to GCSE.
I am also a qualified English teacher and I offer EFL classes to all ages and levels.
A lot of ground covered with much understanding of the concepts.
Jessica has been super helpful for interview preparation and has provided support over a variety of needs, be it interview attitude, style or actual content. I have noticed a real improvement since taking sessions with her !
Very thorough, expert advice
Very helpful and informative!
Sara, student who achieved her offer for Oxford PPE in 2023:
Jess was an amazing tutor who took time to curate sessions to focus on my individual weaknesses, was really helpful in explaining ideas or questions I didn’t understand (while also not oversimplifying them) and was very flexible in arranging sessions. I would really recommend her!
