I am an experienced and highly motivated educator who teaches with passion and a strong commitment to inspiring students to achieve their best. I believe education should nurture both knowledge and character, and I strive to create an environment where students feel supported, challenged, and confident in their abilities. Alongside my teaching career, I have shared my expertise with disadvantaged communities internationally, which has strengthened my belief in the transformative power of learning.
I hold a Doctorate in Philosophy of Religion from Lancaster University and am a qualified, experienced teacher and university lecturer specialising in Religious Studies/Education, Theology, and Philosophy. Over the years, I have successfully guided students at GCSE, A-Level and University level to achieve their academic goals.
My teaching style is interactive and tailored to the unique needs of each student. I place strong emphasis on:
Exam techniques – helping students understand mark schemes, structure answers effectively, and manage time under pressure.
Critical thinking and analysis – enabling students to go beyond memorisation and develop deeper reasoning skills essential for higher grades.
Topic-based knowledge building – ensuring students gain a solid foundation in subject content, with clear connections to the exam specifications.
Confidence and self-assessment – each class concludes with a short test or reflection, allowing students to track their own progress and see tangible improvement.
My goal is always to foster independence, clarity of thought, and exam success.
My main subjects are RE, RS, Theology and Philosophy in Religious Studies.
Apart from GCSE and A-Level I can teach the following topics at the University:
Philosophy
Theology
Buddhism
Mystical Theology
Biblical Studies
Comparative Religions
Hermeneutics
Apologetics
Elizabeth has been an amazing tutor for my son. She is patient, kind, flexible and she has improved his confidence and exam skills so much
Elizabeth provided well structured and balanced comments that were highly informative on 3 essays to improve my understanding of the submitted work and the various subject matters
Excellent, detailed feedback and stimulating analysis was provided by Elizabeth during the class and in the follow -up comments to 2 essays ` that I had presented for Elizabeth to review.
Super helpful and worked at the right pace. Thank you.
Detailed feedback and support; clear explanations in appropriate depth.
