I believe starting with a clear sense of the desired outcome is the best way to learn. My whole method is about getting you clear on what you need to be able to produce so that you can get the grades you want.
Over the years, I have found many capable students have not achieved their potential because what they have been taught in class, hasn't matched up to what the examiners are looking for. They have become lost, confused, and embarrassed because they haven't been explicitly taught the necessary basic structures they need to know to hit their exam feeling super-confident. I make sure every student realises they already know much more than they believe!
English - I am a highly experienced teacher of English. Whether you are sitting your IGCSE or GCSE exams, or studying as a second language learner, I teach a super, simple structure which will have you wondering why you thought analysing literature was so complicated. And don't worry if you are struggling with unlocking your creative writing skills, I'll get you past the dreaded blank-page blockage.
Psychology - It never ceases to amaze me how often the basics of essay structuring and style have been skipped. If you feel like no matter how much theory you read, how many papers you source, and how many edits you write, you still can't get the mark you want, I can help. I am a Chartered Psychologist and Associate Fellow with British Psychological Society and have worked in every sort of psychological working context - academic, research, and clinical - so I can quite truthfully say, I know my stuff.
I have 2 rules in my class:
1. tell me repeat something when you don't understand me
2. get things wrong so I can fix errors in your understanding.
My teaching experience encompasses every sort of learner:
University - Qualitative reasearch metholdology; Health and Social Care
A Levels and IGCSE/GCSE - English Literature, English Language, and Psychology
TEFL - Cambridge C1/C2

As always, Dr Anne was instrumental in helping me get better at IGCSE English level A as a non-native. This time, showing me all there is to making a good descriptive writing and giving me additional homework to further understand the topic.
Excellent and extremely informative first Tutor session with Anne.
Anne's tutoring sessions have mad an enormous difference in my critical thinking and writing skills. We began by fixing my failing dissertation proposal and finished by allowing me to write a comprehensive and thorough dissertation. Looking back i see the difference in my writing skills. Anne has always been super supportive and motivating me to put effort into my work. If you come to Annes session prepared and match her effort, then no project will be impossible.
Anne is a very gifted tutor. She has the ability to quickly identify where the challenges are. If you want to improve your writing skills and build confidence, Anne is the one!

Dr Anne helped my 16-year old daughter in preparations for the English IGCSE. We were happy with the results and my daughter gained a lot of confidence in her English skills. She said Dr Anne was strict and always pointed to her mistakes, but this was a very efficient and honest way of teaching, which my daughter appreciated.
I really enjoy have having class with Dr. Anne, she give good feedback and helped me a lot with structuring my essays. Her class was also funny
Hi Dr Anne, thank you so much for all your help. I got 9 9s and two 8s. I got a high 9 in English language (which is the one I thought I was worse in) and an 8 in literature only 2 marks off a 9 so I will get it remarked. Overall I am very pleased with my English results and I definitely couldn’t have done it without you !! Many thanks xxx J, GCSE English
