I am currently a teacher at the specialist King`s College London Mathematics School.
I teach AS Computer Science, and support with preparing students for the mathematics admissions tests of various universities (MAT, TMUA, STEP).
I also run outreach sessions for y10 and y11 students covering areas of mathematics beyond the GCSE/A Level curriculum.
I have four years tutoring experience of GCSE Mathematics, as well as A Level Mathematics and Further Mathematics. In addition, I have ten years experience supporting students with mathematics university admissions tests (TMUA, MAT and STEP).
Aside from this, I have worked at King`s College London Mathematics School for eleven years, teaching AS Computer Science. My role has also involved mathematics outreach for y10 and y11 students. We take a very socratic and collaborative approach to learning, where we encourage students to explore rather than just "telling them the answer".
Before working in a school (during my PhD), I took on a range of tutorials for undergraduate mathematics students, mainly based on 1st and 2nd year modules, covering introductory calculus, analysis, linear and abstract algebra, and number theory.
I am currently open to tutoring maths at GCSE and A Level, the aforementioned TMUA/MAT/STEP admissions tests, as well as select university maths modules (mainly in pure maths and other first year courses). I am also available to help with Computer Science at GCSE and possibly A Level.
Over the summer, I am much more flexible with tutoring sessions. However, during the school term time, I mainly offer weekend sessions (with weekday evenings open to negotiation).
My main area of expertise is in mathematics, which I studied at university for both of my degrees.
My secondary area of expertise is in Computer Science. I have been teaching AS Computer Science for the last 11 years.
Simon can identify students’ difficulties and encourage them to think more deeply.
