Online English Literature Tutor Brian

My work as Senior Lecturer at St Mary's University achieved 85% plus rating in the National Student Survey in the last four years. I taught a range of courses including Modernisms, Nineteenth Century Literature, Literature ad Psychoanalysis as well as Renaissance Literature and Critical Theory. I have also worked extensively in study abroad programmes over the last fifteen years delivering Shakespeare programmes for the Foundation for International Education (where I gained a teacher of the year award in 2018). I have successfully delivered courses on Shakespeare for the last fifteen years for second year UK undergraduates, American undergraduates (who were literature students as well as non-specialists,) I have also taught American high school students 16 to 18 year olds at the British American Drama Academy summer school in Oxford for the last four years (the most recent course was delivered online). These courses (delivered at different academic levels) offered detailed study of plays from Marlowe and Shakespeare as well as the sonnets and Metaphysical Poetry. The courses offer a chance to apply a range of critical perspectives including gender, psychoanalysis, post-colonial criticism and New Historicism (the approach is tailored to each level of study.)

I have extensive teaching expertise in Shakespeare and Elizabethan and Jacobean literature, Modernist literature, Nineteenth Century Literature as well as Critical Theory. I have supervised final year dissertations on a range of subjects from Shakespeare and Critical theory, Nineteenth Century literature, Nineteenth Century women's writing, Dystopian literature as well as aspects of Children's literature.
