Exceptional, friendly, fully qualified, enthusiastic teacher of English Language and Literature with a specialism in Dyslexia and neurodiviersity who has a genuine passion to see my students achieve their maximum potential.
I am an online English tutor with a specialism in neurodiversity and dyslexia.
I like to help students who have lack of confidence in their abilities in English and pastorally support them through the challenges of English from Age 9 to GCSE’s.
What I do is find the ‘key’ to how they learn and then gain the students confidence in English by firstly improving their reading skills, and secondly by them understanding what they have read as I want them to have an opinion. Both these key areas will lead to the student understanding the importance of punctuation and grammar without having to do repetitive and boring practice.
3 Benefits to my teaching are:
Improved reading and writing in not just English but all subjects
Confidence and resilience
To stop fearing exams
I am Engaging, interactive and dynamic in my approach and always try to make my lessons interesting and intuitive
I tutor a range of students from 9 - 18 years old. In KS2 KS3, KS4, GCSE resits including students with learning difficulties, regularly achieving excellent results.
I have been an AQA examiner since 2016 and have a wide and comprehensive range of learning tools to draw from. Including my own and reputable Schemes of work.

Teaching is my true passion and I can think of nothing more fulfilling than seeing a student flourish as a result of my intervention.

Rufus - Taught during Y10-11
Thank you so much for all you have done for Ruus Whatever he achieves, I don’t think we could have got to this point as smoothly without you and I’m not just referring to his increased confidence at English but his confidence in other subjects too, his general motivation and engagement with learning and revision. I know that he has genuinely enjoyed his sessions

I will be forever grateful for the time and support Carla gave my daughter, who went from below average and had a dislike for English in early secondary school to becoming so passionate about the subject. Carla’s encouragement was over and above and made by daughter believe in herself and now she is predicted straight A* in all her Alevels. As I said, forever grateful

Grace Simmons - Former Student
Throughout the course of my English GCSE, Mrs Clay helped me to reach my goal of a grade 7 in both
English literature and language by providing in-depth notes, and analysis, in addition to quality teaching.
Furthermore, over the years of being in her lessons, Mrs Clay helped me with my lack of confidence both in and out of the classroom, by giving me the extra support I needed to finally start believing in my abilities as a student.
