Online Chemistry Tutor Jonathan

I worked for 5 years in the UK in Derbyshire teaching A-level Chemistry. I then moved internationally as Head of Department in an IB school in the Bahamas where I became fully IB trained. Following that I worked for 2 years in Italy as IB MYP Coordinator and then 3 years in back in the UK as Head of Chemistry at a high performing boarding school and have since been working in Milan as Head of Chemistry where I taught ESS for 3 years. I have tutored throughout this period predominantly face to face but have used Spires and other online systems to tutor students and am very capable of teaching online using all of my own IB specific resources produced over many years. I am currently taking a career break and so am looking to increase my work in this area.

I have taught IB Chemistry for more than 10 years and I am familiar with and confident in delivering the new syllabus. I have been IB Cat 1 and Cat 2 certified which includes how the IA works and have taught all areas of the IB HL and SL course and have taken many classes through the IA journey. Chemistry is a challenging subject and providing support and feedback with complex abstract topics such as equilibrium and bonding is where I have often helped candidates by going back to basics. I also have often provided different approaches on how to tackle mole calculations which is something I have worked hard to develop and can help you to make significant improvements in these complex areas.
I have also been teaching IB ESS and have done a Cat 1 course and can offer support with this in particular with the challenging IA process. I am enthusiastic and passionate about environmental issues and can provide support with the understanding of the key issues in ESS such as the different perspectives, systems and sustainability and how to appy these ideas to case studies and essays.
