Online English Tutor Helen

I am an experienced, working primary school teacher and tutor. While I teach a number of Key Stage 1 and 2 subjects (English, Maths, Science, History and Geography), I am English subject expert, having worked as a curriculum leader in the subject.

I am an engaging, energetic and professional tutor whose style is empathetic and target-focused. I work with students to set achievable goals and my strength is in breaking tasks down into small, manageable steps. I pride myself on my relationships with my students and believe that a calm and supportive learning environment as well as a strong rapport between tutor and student will lead to success.

I hold a PGCert in Education, QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) as well as a First-Class Honours degree in Journalism and prior to becoming a teacher, I was an international news reporter and producer for organisations such as the BBC, The Associated Press and Reuters.

I also run media workshops in schools, where children write and create television, radio and newspaper content. A podcast I created with a Year 5 class recently won an international journalism prize.
