My colleagues and students over the years have described me as a warm, energetic and approachable teacher. I have always had a positive outlook and I seek to solve problems and help others whenever I can. I often incorporate a wide range of short, engaging activities into my lessons that focus on different skills and learning styles. I always strive to be an enthusiastic and fun-loving role model and I aim to make my lessons as engaging and varied as possible. I also aim to inspire an atmosphere of trust so that students feel comfortable sharing any difficulties, thereby helping me to help them.
Throughout my teaching career, the children have been my main focus and drive. I strive to instil curiosity and a love of learning in my students and encourage them to think critically and adapt to new situations with a positive attitude. To inspire students to get involved in their communities, be kinder to one another, be organised, autonomous and open-minded, I have tried to demonstrate these attributes in myself and develop relationships built on mutual respect. I believe that helping students to develop critical thinking skills, resilience, adaptability and an inquisitive mind can help them to reach their full potential so that they can have a positive impact on their community.
I have worked in many different environments, such as restaurants, construction sites, offices and schools and I have also run my own business. From travelling extensively, I have relished learning about other cultures and their ways of thinking and living. I enjoy playing many sports and have always taken pleasure in creating things. I am therefore always trying to find ways to adapt my lessons to the needs and interests of my students in order to make learning more personal to each individual.
I am qualified to teach KS1-KS3. I have worked as a primary school teacher in an independent school in the UK and am therefore experienced in teaching the UK Primary National Curriculum. I have also worked as a middle school teacher in two international schools in South Korea and Portugal. As a classroom teacher, I have taught Years 2-7 and have prepared students for 11+ examinations. Subjects that I have taught as a classroom teacher include Mathematics, Science, English, Geography, History, Art, Design & Technology, Financial Education, Religious Education, Current Events and PSHE. During my time as a classroom teacher, I also tutored students one-to-one in a variety of subjects inside and outside school.
Over the past 2 years, I have been tutoring students (Years 6-13) face-to-face and online in Mathematics, Science, Geography, Business, Global Perspectives and Functional Skills, including GCSE and A-Level students. I therefore have experience teaching the Cambridge IGCSE and A-Level curriculum for a range of subjects. However, my preferred subjects to teach are Mathematics and Science at KS2 and KS3 levels as well as 11+ Mathematics and Non-Verbal Reasoning.
