About Me

I’ve always loved History because every topic tells a story. That is the approach I bring to my lessons, making the past engaging, memorable and relevant rather than something students simply have to memorise. I also tutor English, helping students develop the reading, writing and analytical skills they need to communicate confidently.
I’m a qualified Secondary History teacher with Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and six years of teaching experience. I specialise in GCSE and A Level History, Ancient History and Classical Civilisation. I also offer KS3 English, GCSE English Language and Literature, 11+ English and Verbal Reasoning tuition.

My English lessons cover reading comprehension, creative and transactional writing, vocabulary, spelling, grammar, punctuation, literary analysis and exam technique. Every lesson is personalised, whether a student needs help with the foundations of English, greater confidence in writing or focused examination preparation.

I believe the best learning happens when lessons feel like a conversation rather than a lecture. I’m patient, approachable and have a good sense of humour, creating a relaxed environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes.

Outside teaching, I’m fascinated by the ancient world, particularly Ancient Greece, Ancient Egypt and Greek mythology. I also love fantasy novels and I’m a huge Harry Potter fan. I try to bring that same sense of curiosity and excitement into my lessons.

If I hadn’t become a teacher, I think I would have been a detective! I enjoy treating historical sources and written texts like evidence in an investigation. I encourage students to think critically, explore different interpretations and support their ideas with carefully selected evidence.

Whether you want to build confidence, improve your exam technique or achieve the highest grades, I’m here to support you and make learning enjoyable.

Tutor Experience

I have over six years of experience working in secondary education and currently serve as Head of Year 8. Since qualifying as a teacher I have taught English and History across Key Stages 3, 4 and 5 and held several pastoral and leadership positions, including Assistant Head of Year 11 and Study Skills Lead.

In addition to classroom teaching, I have extensive experience supporting students through targeted intervention and revision programmes. As Study Skills Lead, I delivered sessions to examination classes, helping students develop effective revision strategies, essay-writing techniques and independent learning habits.

I have experience delivering online lessons and adapting my teaching to suit remote learning environments. I use digital resources and interactive activities to ensure lessons remain engaging, accessible and tailored to each student’s individual needs.

My tutoring covers History, Ancient History and Classical Civilisation at GCSE and A Level, alongside KS3 English and GCSE English Language and Literature. For GCSE English, I support students with reading comprehension, language and structural analysis, creative and transactional writing, literary analysis, essay structure, examination technique and accurate spelling, punctuation and grammar.

I also provide personalised 11+ English and Verbal Reasoning tuition, covering comprehension, vocabulary, spelling, grammar, punctuation, creative writing and examination technique. I use an initial assessment to identify each pupil’s strengths and areas for development before creating a structured programme of individual online lessons.
I am committed to creating a supportive and encouraging learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, develop confidence and feel empowered to achieve their academic goals.
