I went to a girls grammar school in the South East of England where I gained 13A*s at GCSE before going onto Durham University. I have been teaching for over ten years, and I am now a full time tutor.
I have helped pupils get into a number of schools, including top London private schools such as Emanuel and Westminster, as well as top grammar schools in Kent such as Cranbrook. Prior to becoming a tutor, I spent a number of years working in primary education in schools across the country. I have a wealth of experience in supporting pupils with Special Educational Needs, as well as those who are already achieving beyond the expected standard and require an extra challenge. I also understand how to appeal to children who may go under the radar at school and who may therefore not be fully achieving their potential.
I cover all of the 11+ and Common Entrance exams, including English, maths, verbal and non-verbal reasoning. I also teach the other subjects within the wider KS2 curriculum, including French and Science.
We are beyond grateful for the incredible support our son received from Maddie! While he had always excelled in, and enjoyed maths & sciences, he disliked English, especially creative writing & comprehension, and would write as little as possible. Maddie took the time to understand what truly motivated him, and within just a few lessons, his confidence and enthusiasm for writing completely transformed. Her personalized approach not only helped him improve his creative writing skills but also prepared him thoroughly for the 11+ exam. I'm thrilled to say that he was accepted into every school he applied for, including Latymer Upper and Westminster School. Even more amazing and valuable, two years later, English has become his favorite subject - which we attribute to Maddie's approach. We couldn’t recommend Maddie more highly! (Magdalena G.)
We are incredibly grateful to Maddie for her outstanding support in helping our son prepare for his 11+ exams. Her teaching style was kind, engaging, and creative, making lessons both enjoyable and highly effective. She was methodical and tailored her approach collaboratively with us, ensuring it suited our son's needs perfectly. Thanks to her dedication and expertise, our son was invited to the interview stage at all five schools he applied to. We cannot recommend her highly enough for anyone seeking a tutor who inspires confidence and delivers exceptional results. (Julie S.)
Maddie was instrumental in supporting my son’s progress in reading. She helped him to grow in confidence, which had a really positive effect on his writing as well. He now likes writing much more than he used to, and he picks up books of his own accord! Maddie effectively tapped into my son’s interests and used these to inform her teaching. It is an approach that I would definitely recommend! (Tanya R.)
My son worked with Maddie in the summer of 2025 to help him improve his understanding of what will be required of him in his GCSE English exams. Maddie is an excellent teacher: knowledgeable, empathetic and encouraging. My son feels he learned a lot from his sessions and has had a confidence booster. He was tested in his first week back at school and his score was much improved. We are happy to recommend Maddie to future students. (Helen W.)
