About Me

I am a positive, curious, and approachable person who really enjoys working with people. I bring my curiosity into my teaching, aiming to make my lessons both focused and enjoyable.

Alongside my tutoring, I work in the criminal justice charity sector, supporting young men as they leave prison and reintegrate into the community. Prior to this, I worked for the UK Government as a Senior Policy Advisor, which gave me a strong grounding in public policy and systems thinking. Rehabilitation is something I care deeply about, and this continues to shape my perspective on Criminology and social issues.

I genuinely loved studying at university, completing my degree in English at Oxford and my MPhil in Criminology at Cambridge. I found it intellectually stimulating and rewarding to study subjects in depth, and this experience strongly informs my approach as a tutor. I particularly enjoy helping students develop that same sense of confidence and enjoyment in their own academic work.

Outside of work, I’m an avid reader and run a small book club with friends. I also enjoy creative writing, spending time outdoors, and being with friends and family. I have a dog called Ozzy, who is often glued to my side when I’m working from home, so my students inevitably get to know him!

I am always happy to offer a free trial lesson so we can see whether we work well together and ensure the right fit before starting regular sessions.

Tutor Experience

I have over 10 years of experience as an English tutor, Criminology tutor, and an academic mentor. I have worked with students from primary school level through to undergraduate study. This includes one-to-one tutoring, small group teaching, and extensive online tutoring for students in the UK and internationally.

I specialise in English tuition and Criminology tuition, with a strong focus on essay writing, critical analysis, and independent thinking. I also provide dedicated Oxbridge admissions tutoring, including personal statement support, interview preparation, and ELAT coaching, with significant experience supporting competitive university applications.

As an experienced online tutor, I have worked with a wide range of students, including SEN learners and those from diverse academic backgrounds. This has helped me develop a flexible, responsive teaching style that combines accessibility with high academic expectations.

I am familiar with major UK exam boards, including AQA, OCR, and Edexcel, and I integrate exam technique, mark scheme understanding, and structured practice into my teaching. My lessons are clear, well-planned, and feedback-driven to ensure steady, measurable improvement.

Overall, I aim to provide high-quality English tutoring and Criminology tutoring that is both rigorous and supportive. I work with a limited number of students so I can maintain a high standard of teaching and ensure each student receives focused, individual attention.
