About Me

I am a Law tutor with a background of nearly a decade of teaching and assessing law degree programmes in English universities. The substantial experience I have in higher education includes delivering LLB (Bachelor of Laws), Graduate Diploma in Law (GDL), Legal Practice Course (LPC), and Professional Skills Course (PSC) modules. In terms of qualifications, I have a Master of Studies in International Human Rights Law - awarded with Distinction - from the University of Oxford, and a First Class Bachelor of Laws with Honours from the University of Central Lancashire (now University of Lancashire), from where I also received the Oxford University Press Prize for Outstanding Performance in EU Law, and Maxwell Law Prize for Best Final Year Performance. I also have a Postgraduate Diploma in Legal Practice at the Bar, following completion of the Bar Professional Training Course (BPTC) at MMU, coming sixth in the respective year's cohort.

Outside higher education, my professional experience includes corporate consultancy in the field of employment and equality law, and I am a co-founder and director of a non-governmental international human rights organisation which has special consultative status with the United Nations. At this time, I serve as a designated representative for this organisation to the UN, in a pro bono capacity. I have expertise in international human rights law and a deep interest in legal frameworks addressing emerging technologies (including AI), and slavery and human trafficking. Before entering the field of law, I worked with voluntary sector organisations to lead arts and creative industry projects for young people, taught IT skills for an adult education college, and worked for local government as a youth support worker, in the north west of England.

Tutor Experience

For nearly eight years I was a full-time Lecturer in Law at the University of Central Lancashire (now University of Lancashire). This role included teaching, marking, moderation, module leadership, research supervision, and designing educational materials at undergraduate, postgraduate, and professional levels of higher education in law. I taught campus and online lectures and classes in a range of subject areas, including: arbitration, advocacy, criminal law, criminal and civil Litigation, evidence, employment and discrimination law, lawyers' skills, and international law. The programmes I taught on included Bachelor of Laws (LLB, Levels 4 - 6), Graduate Diploma (GDL), and LLM (Master's, Level 7) courses in law, as well as vocational courses for those training to become qualified Solicitors (before introduction of the SQE) - namely the Legal Practice Course (LPC, Level 7) and Professional Skills Course.

For the PSC, I was an instructor on the Advocacy and Communication Skills module, and also taught core components of the Financial and Business Skills module. I prepared trainee Solicitors for examination in professional conduct relating to financial matters, including SRA Financial Services Scope and Conduct Business Rules, SRA Code of Conduct for Solicitors, and money laundering regulations. I also developed and delivered arbitration training recognised by the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, as an elective.

Additionally, at Liverpool John Moores University, I taught undergraduate classes in criminal law, criminal litigation and advocacy, and evidence. At postgraduate level, I taught the General Commercial Law elective (Legal Practice Course) and delivered business and human Rights, international equality law, and AI and labour law lectures and seminars for the university's International Trade Law and International Labour Law LLM programmes.

Drawing on this experience, I aim to bring out the best in each student, by tailoring my approach accordingly and encouraging excellence in learning.

Client Reviews

This was my first class with Glen. I felt so overwhelmed previously, approaching some really heavy materials and not really understanding them. Glen was super professional and patient with me, and seemed invested in my learning and the overall outcome I’m trying to achieve here - passing my Bar exams. I will start soon with weekly classes with Glen. I have total confidence that he has the expertise, knowledge, and character to help me, and that under his tutelage and with a little bit of consistency and hard work, I will get to the Bar!
