About Me

I am a seasoned researcher and academic whose interdisciplinary perspective spans sociology, psychology, and cognitive neuroscience.
My PhD at the department of Communication Science (Radboud University Nijmegen - NL) explored the cognitive neuroscience of economic forecasting.
I have held postdoctoral positions in Media Psychology at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam and in Political Neuroscience at the University of Amsterdam.
I am currently an Assistant Professor of Psychology at the American College of Greece (Deree), where I excel in teaching and I stir a research lab in social psychology and affective neuroscience.
For leisure, I enjoy music-making and teaching capoeira.

Tutor Experience

I have over a decade of teaching experience in psychology, communication science, and media psychology across Europe and Greece. Currently, as an Assistant Professor of Psychology at the American College of Greece (Deree), I design and teach courses in cognitive and political psychology, supervise undergraduate theses, and lead interdisciplinary honors courses on media and political psychology.

Previously, I lectured and coordinated MSc theses at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, where I taught media psychology, marketing, consumer behavior, and corporate communication, earning excellent student evaluations. At Radboud University Nijmegen, I developed and taught methods courses and supervised student projects and theses in communication science and psychology. As a guest lecturer at the University of Amsterdam, I delivered courses in political psychology and supervised graduate research in psychobiology and cognition.

My teaching approach is student-centered, grounded in Bloom’s Taxonomy, emphasizing critical thinking, practical application, and independent research skills. I aim to bridge theory with real-world applications, fostering curiosity and intellectual growth in my students.

Topic Expertise

As an educator with extensive interdisciplinary expertise, I specialize in delivering content across a range of topics at the intersection of psychology, neuroscience, and communication science. My teaching focuses on areas such as:

Cognitive Psychology: Fundamental principles of cognition, including memory, attention, decision-making, and predictive coding, as well as their applications in understanding human behavior.
Media Psychology: Exploration of media effects on behavior, social media use, digital communication, and their implications for mental health and societal dynamics.
Political Psychology: The psychological underpinnings of political ideology, decision-making, and behavior, with insights from neuroscience, including studies on ideological thinking and emotional responses to political stimuli.
Research Methods and Experimental Design: Guidance on experimental methodology, survey design, and data collection using behavioral, self-report, and neurophysiological measures (e.g., EEG, eye tracking, and emotion recognition tools).
Behavioral Neuroscience: Linking brain function to behavior, with a focus on political and economic decision-making and the neural correlates of emotions.
Psychological Assessment: Understanding and applying psychometric tools to evaluate personality, attitudes, emotions, and behavioral patterns in diverse contexts.
Consumer Behavior and Marketing Psychology: Analysis of consumer decision-making, branding, and the psychological mechanisms underlying marketing strategies.
Team Dynamics and Organizational Psychology: Applying psychological principles to foster teamwork, resilience, and productivity in organizational settings.
Exam Boards and Assessment Support I am well-versed in supervising and evaluating coursework, final-year dissertations, and interdisciplinary honors theses at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels. I can also provide tailored academic support for exam boards, including:

Designing assessment frameworks and evaluation criteria for psychology and social sciences programs.
Guiding students in meeting the requirements of specific academic boards or institutions.
Offering structured advice on essays, research papers, and applied projects that align with institutional academic goals.

Qualifications

I hold a BA in Sociology from Panteion University (Athens, GR), graduating with distinction, followed by an MA in Sociobiology, Neuroscience, and Education from the University of Athens (GR), where I graduated with honors. I further specialized in cognitive science with an MSc in Brain and Cognitive Science from the University of Amsterdam (NL), gaining hands-on experience in eye-tracking, EEG methods, and psychometric assessment.

My doctoral degree (PhD) in Communication Science from Radboud University Nijmegen (NL) focused on the cognitive neuroscientific aspects of economic forecasting, combining behavioral and neurophysiological methods. Additionally, I have completed two postdoctoral research positions: one in Media Psychology at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam (NL), studying social media's impact on young people, and another in Political Neuroscience at the University of Amsterdam (NL), exploring the neuropsychological correlates of political ideology.

With this solid academic foundation and interdisciplinary expertise, I bring a rich perspective to teaching, research, and consultancy in psychology and neuroscience.
