Hi, my name is Adam. I am a 28-year-old British national born in County Durham, England, and I am currently a final-year PhD researcher in Politics at LUISS Guido Carli University in Rome. Prior to this, I completed a BA in Politics and Sociology at Newcastle University, followed by an MSc in Politics and Communication at the London School of Economics and Political Science.
Teaching and lecturing have been the most rewarding aspects of my academic career. Even before moving to Italy, I worked closely with undergraduate Sociology students on a one-to-one basis, supporting the development of critical thinking and academic writing. Over the past four years in academia, I have built an extensive portfolio of formal university teaching and advanced writing support at both undergraduate and postgraduate level.
I work primarily with BA and MA/MSc students to develop research ideas, structure dissertations, and meet the expectations of high-level academic assessment. While my particular theoretical expertise lies in Sociology, Political Sociology and Political Communication, I also have strong methodological training and regularly support original research projects across the humanities and social sciences.
Alongside teaching, I have a strong track record of successful university applications at BA, MA, and PhD level. I take great satisfaction in helping students present themselves clearly and competitively. At the same time, I am open about the realities of academic life. I have experienced rejection and disappointment as well as success, and I believe these lessons are often just as valuable for students preparing for the competitive nature of higher education.
I am flexible, open, and committed to providing a high-quality, personalised tutoring experience, whether through structured, teacher-led instruction or practical support with writing, research design, and applications. I always offer a free consultation to discuss goals and ensure my teaching style is the right fit.
I have extensive teaching experience at the BA and MA/MSc levels, combining formal university instruction with one-to-one academic mentoring. At LUISS Guido Carli, I currently serve as a Lecturer in Academic Methodology on the CIFE Joint MA programme, where I focus on research design, academic writing, and methodological rigour.
Alongside this, I have worked as a Teaching Assistant across a wide range of undergraduate and postgraduate courses, including Political Sociology, Gender Politics, Crisis Communication, and Comparative History of Political Systems. At the MA level, I have provided specialist instruction in Reading and Writing Academic Texts and How to Write a Master’s Dissertation, supporting students through advanced academic writing, argument construction, and thesis development.
I have also acted as an Academic Tutor for the Future 17 Project, offering tailored academic support and skills development, and have worked continuously as a Private Tutor since 2021. In this role, I have taught Politics and Sociology at the BA and MA levels, with particular emphasis on essay/dissertation writing, exam preparation, and university and postgraduate applications.
