About Me

I was born in China and moved to Greece at the age of 13, where I completed my GCSEs and the IB Diploma Programme. After finishing school, I moved to the UK to study Mathematics at the University of Dundee. I then completed a PGDE in Secondary Mathematics Education at the University of Sheffield and am currently pursuing a PhD in Mathematics at the University of St Andrews. I’m an experienced online tutor, having supported students across GCSE, A Level, and IB Maths. I genuinely enjoy teaching and helping others succeed, and I’m passionate about making maths accessible and engaging. In my free time, I enjoy reading and watching TV series.

Tutor Experience

I have over four years of experience tutoring maths online, supporting students at GCSE, A Level, and IB level across various exam boards. I’ve worked both one-to-one and in small groups (up to three students), tailoring sessions to individual needs and learning styles. I’ve taught students from diverse educational backgrounds, including international schools and students preparing for university entry. I used online whiteboards, Zoom annotation tools, and my own writing pad, and digital resources like Desmos and past paper banks to make lessons engaging and visual.
During my PGDE at the University of Sheffield, I also gained classroom teaching experience in UK secondary schools (ages 11–18). I used interactive mini whiteboards, paired group activities, and hands-up for answers to make lessons more engaging. My approach is student-centred and responsive: I focus on building conceptual understanding, addressing misconceptions, and guiding students to become confident problem-solvers. I scaffold learning carefully, encourage active participation, and create a supportive environment where students feel comfortable making mistakes and asking questions.

Topic Expertise

I can confidently tutor a wide range of topics across GCSE, A Level, and IB Maths. For GCSE, I cover both Foundation and Higher tiers, including number, algebra, geometry, statistics, and ratio/proportion, with experience in AQA, Edexcel exam boards. At A Level, I support students with pure maths (including proof, functions, calculus, and trigonometry) across the Edexcel and AQA syllabuses.
For IB Maths, I tutor both Standard and Higher Level (AA and AI), with experience guiding students through internal assessments and past paper preparation. I regularly use official exam papers, mark schemes, and topic-based worksheets to structure lessons around exam-style questions and common pitfalls.
I’m also comfortable helping students build revision strategies and exam techniques, including interpreting multi-step word problems, using precise mathematical language, and checking work for accuracy.

Qualifications

I hold a BSc in Mathematics from the University of Dundee and a Postgraduate Diploma in Education (PGDE) in Secondary Mathematics from the University of Sheffield. I also hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) in the UK. During my PGDE, I completed teaching placements in secondary schools, gaining experience with Key Stages 3, 4, and 5 learners.
I am currently pursuing a PhD in Mathematics at the University of St Andrews, specialising in applied mathematics. My academic qualifications are complemented by over four years of tutoring experience, supporting students at GCSE, A Level, and IB exams.
