About Me

Specialist in Applied Mathematics, Mathematical Analysis and Computational Mathematics.

Mathematics is a subject which is capable of total demoralising the most able of students and severely undermining their self-esteem. This is because, unlike many other subjects, the smallest misconceptions have the ability to pollute a student’s understanding of an entire topic. This is then further compounded by the fact that mathematics directly builds upon previous concepts, making later topics even more inaccessible.

Having personally experienced difficult teaching environments, as well as intense periods of anxiety brought on by my studies, I deeply value my students well-being and always seek to establish a friendly, open and calming learning environment. Above all else, I want my students to feel comfortable asking any question and feel inspired to engage with topics which have previously given them a great deal of anxiety. My first priority as a tutor is to systematically breakdown the topic of discussion into its most basic constituent parts and, through observing the student tackle problems and listening to their reasoning, isolate the critical misconceptions holding them back.

I have successfully taught and personally mentored a wide range of students from all over the world and of radically varying abilities. From students seeking advice for Cambridge part III applications to adults who never experienced any type of formal mathematics education, I have a proven track record in taking units that students struggle with and turning into one of their strengths.

I also like to mentor my students in self study and revision techniques so that thy can continue to grow beyond our classes.
