Specialist tutor in undergraduate, master’s and PhD/industry-level applied mathematics, mathematical analysis and computational mathematics.
I am a research fellow at UCL with 4 years of experience teaching mathematics and over 180 hours of tutoring at the undergraduate and master’s levels. I have successfully tutored many students while at the profs, helping them achieve their academic goals and reach their true potential. The following links ( https://tinylink.net/4gSL5 and https://tinylink.net/mCc5a ) contain several 5-star reviews from former clients, including a client whose grades increased from 34% to 76%, corresponding to the greatest possible jump in grades within the UK university grading system! (I have recently changed my surname - hence the disparity between names across the reviews).
My teaching style is based on treating mathematics as a living, breathing subject, motivated by real-world problems tailored to the specific academic interests of my clients. Furthermore, I place a great deal of emphasis on building my client’s mathematical confidence and intuition, as well as general study skills, so that my clients can enjoy a long-term, sustained improvement in their academic performance well beyond our sessions.
My sessions can be broadly categorized as ‘long-term’ or ‘exam-prep’ tutoring sessions. Long-term sessions, typically running over a term, aim to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of a topic. Exam-prep sessions are exclusively focused on rapidly increasing the likelihood of a student obtaining a desired grade. In practice, long-term sessions are more free-form and seek to identify and address conceptual misunderstandings through a combination of open discussion, examples, and supervised problems, all tailored to the specific needs and preferences of the client. On the other hand, exam-prep sessions are highly structured and are designed to maximize marks with an emphasis on problems and exam technique.
