As a returning tutor, I am excited to be jumping back into teaching and working with students in the classrooms again! As a teacher, my strength lies in my lesson planning. I found students often struggle with their exam techniques, so I am always very careful in ensuring students understand how to write good exam answers using correct scientific keywords to maximize the number of marks they can score. I am particularly familiar with the AQA GCSE Combined Science/Triple science specification and syllabus, having taught it for a number of years. I like to make links between student's everyday life and their science learning so they can find the contents more relatable and enjoyable. I am also very experienced in differentiation and scaffolding my lessons to help meet a range of learning needs.
With extensive research experiences in science education and STEM education, I am also a published author in several peer-reviewed journal articles in educational research. Here are some of my recent publications below:
Watkins, J., Tang, Y., Goodwin, A., Rae, N., & Johnson, H. J. (in-press). Five phases for engaging secondary teachers in expansive and connective sensemaking. Innovations in Science Teacher Education.
Being from Hong Kong, I can also speak and write fluent Chinese (Cantonese and Mandarin). I also travel widely and love to sample great food when I am abroad!
I completed my PGCE in 2017 and was a secondary school science teacher in London for 6 years. My main teaching responsibilities were in KS3 and GCSE science classes in addition to experiences teaching A-Level Chemistry. I was also a sixth-form tutor for 4 years and have great experience in guiding students through their university applications and the writing of their UCAS personal statements. In addition, I also have been a PGCE mentor for student teachers in school, and have significant experiences running professional development and teacher education programs for science teachers in the USA as part of my research activity.
I also have significant experiences working with students with diverse special educational needs, helping a significant number of them to pass their GCSEs with some exceeding their target grades. Throughout my teaching career, I have built many strong relationships with students, parents, and teachers in schools and received much praise for my teaching practice.
I also have had previous experiences tutoring students in GCSE and A-Level Mathematics as well as some experiences teaching IB.

I enjoyed my lesson very much and now have a better understanding of ecology!
Very helpful for subject that I struggled on they were explained very clearly and I then I understood them. Felt a lot more confident for my exams. Definitely recommend.
I had a great class, thank you so much! I am now very confident with enzymes and I am also now clear on the differences between compounds and mixtures! Thank you so much, again, looking forward to next lesson!
so helpful!
fantastic tutor
So help and explained really well
Yeung was very friendly and provided me with a lot of insightful information about unis. We were able to edit my PS successfully. Great chatting with you, thanks!
Yeung was extremely helpful in writing my UCAS personal statement (only took us an hour and a half to write it from scratch). Clearly extremely experienced and I recommend to anybody applying through UCAS!!
very good
One of the best tutors so far. Boosted my CV and gave me helpful advice on how to improve my application. I am very pleased with the lesson.
Yeung has helped my son grow in confidence with his chemistry and physics. From really struggling to grasp the concepts Yeung has been diligent in growing his understanding. He is now confident in class and loves answering questions and getting them right. Yeung is a wonderful science tutor!

Very helpful and clear. Great with personal statements and answering general questions about UCAS.

Yeung has been a tremendous support to my son and in a very short span of time was able to make my son enjoy learning science and how to tackle many of the gcse style questions. Will be starting with him regularly in September as well. He is also very flexible and kind with his time. Thank you Yeung
-Anna (Year 8 parent)
No doubt Yeung is an experienced and knowledgeable tutor. Although my son started with him for GCSE science recently, yet his improvement is recognisable. While they are tackling exam questions, he taught him how to structure as well as covering gap of knowledge. My son enjoyed his lessons with Yeung and find them useful and beneficial. Many thanks Yeung and all the best.
-Aida (Year 11 parent)
My daughter found the lessons with Yeung extremely beneficial. She went from disliking science to gaining a real interest, thanks to his teachings. Yeung creates a friendly and warm atmosphere. I would definitely recommend Yeung.
