About Me
I am currently a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at Ghent University (UGent), Belgium. My research investigates how meaning operates in natural language. I conduct experimental work and develop formal and computational models to address questions such as: How does meaning emerge in context? and How and when do people combine the meanings of individual words to form complex interpretations? Outside of academia, I am an avid musician with a love of the outdoors.
Tutor Experience
I have been teaching and tutoring since 2013, working with students of all ages and abilities. Research shows that learning is most effective when it is both rewarding and appropriately challenging, and when learners engage deeply with ideas rather than memorising facts. My sessions are designed with this in mind. I aim to help you reach your potential in a way that feels motivating and meaningful. Rather than delivering content, I guide and question as we work together to understand materials and concepts. My goal is for you to leave each session more confident, more independent, and with a deeper curiosity about—and understanding of—your subject.
Topic Expertise
As an interdisciplinary researcher, I have a broad knowledge base spanning multiple domains. My areas of expertise include:
Linguistics: semantics, pragmatics, syntax, psycholinguistics, language acquisition, and computational linguistics (including NLP and large language models).
Research Methods: statistics, experimental design, reproducible data science, and statistical programming in R.
Cognitive Science: philosophy of mind, embodiment, computational theories of cognition, and representationalism.
