About Me
I am a very approachable person who has a passion for both subjects and I like to translate that onto my students. I studied for a master's degree in Marketing and then I realised I love teaching young learners. After that, I was a teacher in the UK for several years, I started as a TA and then moved on to a teaching career. Currently, on sabbatical leave enjoying family time with my children.
I currently work as an examiner for Pearson Edexcel (also GCSE level and international) and OCR in both subjects and I love to help students prep for their official exams.
On a more personal note, I am a rescue diver and I love traveling to enjoy different cultures and meet different people.
Tutor Experience
I have taught several years A level, CTEC, and different apprenticeships in the UK. I have +400 hrs online tutoring experience since last academic year mainly preparing students for their official exams from September to May. My lessons are quite didactic, I use different methodologies and material to support learning in different approaches and in different areas. My first lesson is to set goals and define a plan going forward, but I am flexible and I always adapt lessons according to student´s goals.
I like to cover different areas such as knowledge consolidation, essay writing skills, and exam techniques to help students feel confident with the subject. I have experience delivering lessons for Edexcel/AQA/OCR and Eduqas exam boards.
Lessons are quite focused on exam prep, especially for second-year students. As an examiner, I keep myself updated with the latest economics/business events worldwide and I like to apply real-life scenarios to the theory. Students can then relate their theory to a real-world context and build their understanding of the subject (quite useful for final exams!)
Lessons are engaging using different methods of learning and a variety of tools to help them flourish in their A-level exams. Besides, I have experience teaching learners with different backgrounds and also, students with learning difficulties such as autism or dyslexia.
My tutoring is always very approachable, and professional but I also like to have a bit of a laugh.
Tutoring students is advantageous when you see them enjoying the subject.
Topic Expertise
My areas of expertise are mainly, economics and business A-level Edexcel/AQA/OCR
/EDUQAS, all the way from basic knowledge and understanding of the syllabus to the consolidation with the use of practice material such as case studies, reading news and past papers practice. When they feel ready we move to exam prep: essay writing support, exam techniques, examiner tips and hints.
I can support students with insights into their exams and what is expected from them.
