I was born and grew up in France in a British academic family, before moving to the UK for the International Baccalaureate. I studied at Sevenoaks School and then went to UCL to study Biochemistry. I have an 8 year old daughter.
I have travelled around the world a lot, including for tutoring, and have taught over a hundred students. I have worked with people who had completely lost interest in a subject, students with low self-esteem or lack of faith in their abilities, as well as with A* students and everything in between. I have helped students to develop, enjoy learning and to prepare to gain entrance to the best schools and universities. I have also worked together with families to improve interpersonal dynamics, and have mentored students to help them develop critical life and organisational skills. I have had consistently strong academic and personal results.
Each student is unique and requires a personalised approach to learning. I adapt my teaching style to each student's individual needs and make my lessons clear, interactive and engaging.
I have been tutoring for over 15 years, specialising in Maths and Sciences up to A Level and IB Diploma. I have worked with more than one hundred students across a wide academic range, from those struggling with confidence and foundational gaps to those aiming for top grades and competitive school or university entry. Alongside subject teaching, I mentor students in study skills, time management and exam technique, recognising that organisation and mindset are often as important as content mastery. I am also trained to support students with learning disabilities.
For 11+ and 13+ preparation, I teach Maths, English, Science, verbal and non-verbal reasoning, comprehension and interview technique. I have prepared students for leading UK independent schools including St Paul’s, Westminster, Wycombe Abbey, Winchester, Sevenoaks and many others. Students typically sit multiple entrance exams and consistently secure places at one of their preferred schools. My approach combines strong foundational work, targeted exam practice and confidence building.
At GCSE, IGCSE, A Level and IB, I teach Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry and Physics across all major exam boards (OCR, Edexcel, AQA, CIE, WJEC, MYC). I focus on deep conceptual understanding and precise exam application, and have helped many students move from mid-level grades (5–7) to 8/9.
Revision planning is a key part of my work. I help students construct realistic, structured timetables that balance content review with past paper practice and exam technique, ensuring they feel organised and confident.
I also have experience working with students with ADHD, OCD and other social, emotional or behavioural difficulties. I combine clear structure with patience and adaptability, creating a focused but supportive learning environment tailored to each individual.

“As part of filming a movie, which required me to be absent from my high school, I was able to take mathematics and chemistry lessons online with Andrew. What really struck me was his way of explaining things: particularly clear, methodical and efficient. I quickly understood concepts that I had previously struggled to grasp. I made so much progress with him in just a few lessons that, when I returned to school, I found that I was ahead of the curriculum and had even learned things that will be very useful to me later on. For all these reasons, I highly recommend him.” — VA
“Andrew tutored me for over a year while I was preparing for Chemistry and Physics IGCSEs. He really helped me understand topics that I had found confusing before and he made the harder parts of the course feel much more manageable. He explains things clearly and patiently which made a big difference to my confidence. I enjoyed our sessions and actually looked forward to them, which says a lot! I’m very grateful for all his help and would definitely recommend him as a tutor.” — LR
“Andrew was a fantastic tutor and such an inspiration for both of our children throughout their journey towards and up to IGCSEs. He has an excellent and holistic knowledge of Science and Maths which enables him to help the student obtain a very good, thorough and confident understanding of the subjects. Andrew is patient and calm which can help with students who find it hard to learn independently but for those who can learn independently he aids their development greatly also by focusing on elements they identify as difficult or confusing. In other words he is good at tailoring his approach to the individual student and their individual requirements. We have no hesitation in recommending Andrew as a tutor.” — DT
“Since 2011, Andrew has taught many of my pupils a variety of subjects - Maths, Physics, Biology, Chemistry and French. He has worked with pupils of mine who were preparing for Common Entrance, GCSEs and 13+ and 16+ entrance exams. Andrew proved popular with all my pupils and built a strong rapport and working relationship with each of them, and helped them achieve their goals. He is extremely personable and is also reliable and professional in all his dealings. I can highly recommend him as an able and effective tutor.” — Piers Gladstone, Educational consultant
