About Me
I am a UK qualified Mathematics teacher with QTS and a PGCE, and an active examiner for a major UK awarding body. I have taught maths full time in British international schools across Asia for seven years, and tutored privately for fifteen.
Marking real A Level scripts changed how I teach. Once you have marked live exam papers, you stop guessing what examiners want. I show students exactly how marks are awarded, where method marks get thrown away, and which small details separate full marks from half.
I teach to each student's exact specification: Cambridge International, Edexcel, AQA, OCR and the IB. My core strengths are Pure Mathematics, Statistics and Further Maths, from IGCSE and Additional Maths through to A Level Further Maths and IB Higher Level.
Understanding comes first. Students learn why a method works, not just how to run it, because that is what carries them through the unfamiliar question at the end of the paper, where the top grades are decided. Alongside that we work on exam technique: timing, layout, checking, and handling questions they have never seen before.
I work just as well with students who need their confidence rebuilt as with strong students pushing for an A*, Further Maths, or a competitive university place.
I teach weekday evenings in Asian and Gulf time zones, which suits international school students who struggle to find a strong tutor at sociable hours. Sessions run on an iPad with Apple Pencil as a live whiteboard, with past papers on a second screen, and every session is recorded so students can revisit the working afterwards.
Before we start, I offer a free 15-minute meeting so we can discuss exactly what is needed and whether I am the right fit. It is a conversation rather than a lesson, and there is no obligation.
