I am a PhD-qualified chemist based near Edinburgh, with more than ten years of experience in university research, teaching and student supervision. I have worked at the University of Edinburgh and the University of Lincoln, where I am currently an Honorary Fellow.
I am a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA), a Member of the Royal Society of Chemistry (MRSC), and a PVG Scheme member for regulated roles with children and adults.
I teach Chemistry across the Scottish and English curricula, as well as at university level. I enjoy making difficult topics easier to understand and helping students become more confident with calculations, chemical concepts and exam questions. I am patient, organised and adjust my teaching style and lesson speed to suit each student.
I teach Chemistry across both the Scottish and English curricula, including National 5, Higher, Advanced Higher, GCSE, and A-level. I currently provide one-to-one online tuition and have previously taught GCSE and A-level students. I am also comfortable teaching Chemistry at university level.
My lessons are interactive, with clear explanations, worked examples and regular past-paper practice. I revisit earlier topics to improve retention and adjust the pace according to each student’s needs. Although I am relatively new to tutoring regularly through professional platforms, I have taught Chemistry for many years and feel confident working with students at different levels.
I also have extensive experience teaching, training and mentoring undergraduate, postgraduate and PhD students. At the University of Lincoln, I was Director of Studies for two PhD students and one MRes student. I enjoy teaching and helping students become more confident in Chemistry.
My main areas of expertise are inorganic, organic, physical, analytical, solid-state and materials chemistry. I can teach Chemistry across the Scottish and English school curricula, as well as at university level.
I have extensive experience in university research and scientific data analysis. I am the author or co-author of 21 peer-reviewed research publications. This research background helps me explain Chemistry using practical examples and connect fundamental concepts with real scientific applications.
