About Me
In addition to a career in scientific research and education, I have also been a cricket and rugby coach for very many years, and even run some Sheep Keeping courses! I have always been passionate about teaching and supporting scientific education, and am able to break down complex subjects in ways that any student can understand, giving them the tools to understand the subject in greater detail.
Tutor Experience
I have been training researchers in Flow Cytometry and Immunology in the UK for nearly thirty years, firstly in an academic and corporate role, and since 2011 as a self employed consultant. Some of this training is group based "lectures", but much of it is one-to-one support on a specific topic, ensuring the PhD student or postdoc understands the subject to the extent that they can take the project forwards. The vast majority of this training and support takes place online in a web meeting.
Topic Expertise
I am an international expert in flow cytometry and immunology, but am also very experienced in related disciplines such as cell biology, genetics, virology and microbiology. I can teach these subjects from A-Level to Undergraduate to PhD student level. I am also capable of teaching other A-level and beyond biological sciences. As my approach is both knowledge and thinking based, I can cover any exam board.

I have a BSc in Cell and Molecular Biology, a research MSc in Biochemistry and a PhD in Immunology. Since graduating with my PhD in 2000, I have worked on over 80 research papers with a wide range of laboratories.
