About Me
Before moving into education, I spent 13 years working as a Chartered Civil Engineer across road, rail, airport, and bridge projects. I then spent over 20 years teaching in UK further and higher education, including 12 years as a Principal Lecturer in Civil Engineering at a top UK teaching University.
A large part of my university role involved supporting students who struggled with the mathematical elements of their courses, including GCSE-level maths concepts and skills. This has shaped my teaching style: clear, patient, confidence‑building, and focused on helping learners truly understand the “why”, not just memorise methods.
I also hold a Master’s Degree in Digital Education (2023), giving me strong expertise in delivering high‑quality online learning.
Outside of tutoring, I’m a married father of two, with a Portuguese wife and a very fast (and very cute) lurcher. I’m passionate about sport (hockey, cycling, Padel), and I love travelling, food, and learning about different cultures.

I provide tailored, student‑focused online tutoring with a strong emphasis on GCSE/iGCSE Maths. Much of my 20‑year teaching career has involved helping engineering and construction students to understand and apply mathematics skills, including those that needed to rebuild their GCSE‑level foundations.
