About Me
I have been a Head of department, Head of sixth form and Deputy Head teacher across Greater Manchester. My focus has always been on delivering dynamic creative teaching that motivates and drives improvement. My love of teaching my subject has been a consistent and I have a record of delivering oustanding results with students at all levels.
Tutor Experience
I have been teaching History since 1983 to GCSE and Alevel. I have also been an examiner and moderator for coursework so I really know the ins and outs of the exam system.
This means I can get students to their target grade ( and beyond!) being so aware of what it takes to get each grade. Students thrive in my sesions and develop the tools, understanding and confidence to approach the exams with focus and self-belief.
I have many ways to make sure students can meet their own aspirations using effective techniques and different approaches that suit the learner. This means you will develop for example an essay writing approach that is repeatable and adapatable to any essay questions. With extracts and sources I have a unique methodology that you can use no matter what you are given in the exam.
With this nailed we make sure that you tackle the knowledge issues and end the idea that you need to know everything. You need chunks of knowledge which we then connect to topics so that you can use them in many different questions. The focus is on using what you know to its maximum. I call this the hangers of history. Connecting the knowledge to the reason you need to know this - which means the questions that it can answer. The brain needs to understand this in order to retain it. I can also assist with Coursework. Working withing the guidelines I can do a lot to boost your performance in this often overwhelming task. Germany- Unification , Weimar/ Nazi, West and East Germany, Cold war.
European - French Revolution onwards
20th units WW1 / WW2
