I’m a Chemical Engineer with a Master’s from UCL and a First Class BEng from the University of Surrey, currently working as a consultant engineer. In my role, I specialise in process modelling and simulation—an area I particularly enjoy as it brings together chemical engineering principles with coding and software to model and analyse real-world systems. This experience shapes my approach to tutoring, where I aim to make complex concepts clear, structured, and relevant. I focus on building strong fundamentals, breaking ideas down step by step, and helping students develop confidence through worked examples and exam-style practice.
I have experience providing one-to-one private tuition in Maths and Science to Key Stage 3 and GCSE students. From October 2015 to January 2018, I worked as a private personal tutor in London, supporting students with a wide range of abilities and academic goals. My tutoring focused on reinforcing core concepts, improving problem-solving techniques, and building confidence. I planned structured lessons aligned with the UK curriculum, identified individual knowledge gaps, and adapted my teaching approach to suit different learning styles. This included step-by-step explanations, guided practice, and targeted exam-style questions.
In addition to private tutoring, my professional role as a consultant engineer involves delivering structured technical training and one-to-one support to scientists and engineers. This has included running virtual classroom workshops, where I guide groups of learners through complex concepts, manage interactive exercises online, and provide real-time feedback. These experiences have strengthened my ability to explain complex mathematical and engineering concepts clearly, adapt explanations dynamically, and ensure understanding through active questioning and engagement.
I am now extending my tutoring to undergraduate Chemical Engineering subjects, drawing on my strong academic background and industry experience. My teaching approach is patient, organised, and structured, with a focus on building strong fundamentals, developing effective problem-solving skills, and helping students approach their studies with confidence.
I specialise in Chemical Engineering, with experience covering key undergraduate modules including Thermodynamics, Mass and Energy Balances, Separation Processes, Reaction Engineering, Mass Transfer, and Process Modelling. I can help students understand core concepts, solve numerical problems, and prepare for university-level exams and coursework. Specific topics I can cover include:
Thermodynamics: Laws of thermodynamics, chemical and phase equilibria, properties of pure substances, thermodynamic cycles.
Mass and Energy Balances: Material balances, energy balances, reactive and non-reactive systems, steady-state and transient processes.
Separation Processes: Distillation, absorption, extraction, filtration, and membrane processes.
Reaction Engineering: Kinetics, reactor design (batch, CSTR, PFR), and catalysis.
Mass Transfer: Diffusion, mass transfer coefficients, absorption, stripping, and interphase mass transfer.
Process Modelling: Mathematical modelling of chemical processes, simulation, and optimisation.
Really helpful session.
