I had the pleasure of working with Justin as both an informal mentor and tutor throughout my civil engineering project, my final year dissertation, and while preparing for my structural analysis exam. He also supported me at one of the most challenging points in my degree, when I was juggling five resits and struggling with confidence. With his guidance, I was able to turn a failed 28% exam into a 64%, and he gave me the belief and confidence to complete my dissertation solo when I didn’t think I would pass at all. Justin is an incredibly kind and patient tutor, as well as a highly competent civil engineer with expertise across a wide range of topics relevant to the built environment. He was always well-prepared and organised, providing honest guidance about what we could achieve together and ensuring that everything we worked on stayed within academic guidelines. His careful and structured approach gave me the confidence to perform at my very best, and his support was invaluable in helping me reach my goals. Without his guidance, I genuinely don’t believe I would have achieved so much in such a short time. I can highly recommend Justin to anyone looking for an outstanding tutor and mentor. I gained a much clearer understanding of inner products today, thanks to Andrew. He took the time to explain the key concepts in a really intuitive way, which made everything click. His questions are also thought provoking... they push you to think more deeply about what you're learning. It's clear that he's very experienced, and he communicates his ideas clearly and coherently.

Update on progress and obstacles encountered (some of which were me getting in my own way and overthinking and/or "holding" too much information. Going throughthe process of the discussion and how I am scaffolding all the elements that need to be included. External examiner - mismatch of who is choosing them- Dr Steve suggested, very wisely, to go back to the handbook for a definitive answer. Revisiting the RQ and aims. Wondering if I could create a table of the gaps to put in the analysis/discussion? Dr Steve showed me some examples from his thesis - and suggested I include some retrospective reflection in my table. Excellent session - very helpful indeed.

Jemima helped me to work through my understanding of Spanish pronouns, especially as it is a concept that is quite hard to grasp coming from an asian foreign language. Her patience and ability to adapt to my level has allowed me to progress very fast with this topic
