Geography and Sociology teacher with seventeen years experience teaching both in the UK and abroad. I also have experience as an AQA Examiner (for both Geography and Sociology) and I am an accredited examiner for AQA Sociology. I have a Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (from University of Wales) so if English isn't your first language, I can help you grasp subject terminology and articulate your knowledge better too. I am passionate about Geography and Sociology; my subject knowledge is constantly being added to and I am laser focused on top grades.

Me: I am a dynamic and energetic teacher. My teaching style is varied and visual. I work to build a good rapport with my tutees and from that connection, I can adapt and learn best how to teach you, specifically.
How I teach: I understand that education is competitive and pressurised - I have high expectations of myself and of my tutees. Firstly, I work to embed the necessary knowledge so that you are confident that you know and understand the material. Secondly, I work to practise and perfect applying that knowledge to examination questions so that you can achieve the highest grade you are capable of.
I am experienced in teaching students of all abilities and also students for whom English is a second language.
I have eighteen years teaching experience both in the UK and abroad. I taught IGCSE and IB Geography for three years in one of the top 100 UK schools for grade outcomes. In my first teaching role, I set up a new Sociology department teaching both IGCSE and A Level, writing schemes of work and building on my subject knowledge.
I have approximately two years experience as a 1:1 tutor. Having also been an examiner (for Geography and Sociology), I understand how exams are marked, what examiners are looking for and how to gain top marks.
I am a human geographer which overlaps really well with sociology - I find human society really fascinating. More recently I am working in environmental education which gives me up to date knowledge on some of the greatest challenges and most important applications of geographical skills and understanding. Geography and Sociology are both subjects which discuss and explore issues and topics applicable to whatever work or lifestyle you choose for your future.

best session so far loved the tasks layout for the lesson this week really engaged well with it
I fell like I'm progressing well in my areas of concern though potentially may have to go over it one more time other than that I really like this lesson / teaching style
Thanks alot, Bethia. Looking over the paper 3 and how to answer everything really helped. And it was great fun talking about the sustainability for the cities/towns. Can't wait to see you next time, i really enjoy these!!
Thank you alot for the lesson Bethia, it was very useful and i feel much more confident about my exams!!
Throughout our 2 months on preparing for my MYP IB exam I have found Bethia to be very helpful and mindful in helping me achieve good knowledge. She always implies a strategic lesson plan, covering all the aspects of any topic and giving tips regarding exam style questions. Highly recommend!
During the past 3 months I have been working with Bethia to prepare for the IGCSE sociology exam. She is very patient and understanding, she does a lot of work through conversations instead of boring text work. She makes the lessons very fun and enjoyable. Bethia works very well with my short timeline and she accommodates to fit in all the necessary material in a designated period of time. Bethia is very helpful and compassionate if you do not know or understand the questions, she has never made me feel bad for needing extra support. Bethia is quite flexible with the way she teaches in order to help you learn in the most suitable and best way for you. Overall I have been very pleased and satisfied with our lessons and she has helped me improve significantly. I would highly reccomend her to anyone that requires a specific approach to learning or works better with talking through their learning.
Bethia is very helpful in supporting me with my learning and encourages me to keep revising and having confidence in my answers. She is very supportive and helps when she can tell i am struggling but also allows me to answer questions independently and praises my efforts in answering questions even when they might not be correct. She listens to feedback and sets out her lessons to fit my needs which is very helpful. I really recommend her as a tutor as she listens to what her students need to be able to learn and listens to what areas where i am not confident in and by the end of the lesson i feel very confident which the topics i struggeld with.
Very helpful, she walked me through all the detailed content and helped discuss all the topics in a way that would help me understand the complicated terms and concepts within our topic (globalisation).
More-so, at the end of each lesson she asks for feedback and our opinions which helps her to aid the next lessons to us and to better fit our working styles, highly recommend !
Child in 11th grade. He hasn’t been doing it for long, but there are already positive results. He got a perfect score on a geography quiz at school. The teacher is friendly, punctual, and a master of his craft! There are trial exams in January, we hope your preparation will be successful. We are glad to meet you!
