Away from teaching I love all types of sport. I still like to race my bike when I get the chance and use my scientific knowledge to help me plan my training and the young riders I coach at our local club. I am also a keen SCUBA diver, having clocked up over 500 dives worldwide. I now enjoy photographing the animals that I once studied and try to contribute to volunteer marine surveys such as the Marine Conservation Society's Seasearch programme when I get the chance.
With all that practical scientific experience I enjoy putting the science you are learning about into a context that interests you.
