About Me

I am a friendly and enthusiastic maths teacher. I qualified in 2010 and worked in secondary schools for 4 years, before becoming a professional one-to-one tutor in 2014. I also work for an online school, supporting students worldwide to work towards IGCSE and A Level maths. I love what I do, I get to work with such a wide variety of students.

I have always loved maths and teaching is in my bones - as a child I used to regularly teach my younger brother maths! This developed into supporting my peers with their A Level studies, and my career choice as a teacher was firmly decided upon during a trip to South Africa, where I taught maths in the townships near Johannesburg.

Working with children, and seeing them enjoy what they are doing and develop confidence is my passion. I have 2 sons, who keep me very busy, and I have recently become a football coach! I also organise events for the children at my sons' school as part of the PTA.

Tutor Experience

I qualified as a maths teacher in 2010, following which I taught in two different secondary schools. During this time I taught maths to students from year 7 through to those studying further maths at A Level.

Since 2014 I have worked as a professional one-to-one maths tutor. I have worked with students ranging from the age of 8 to 18, and of all abilities. Since 2020, I have worked solely online, using Zoom and an online whiteboard. My online lessons are always fully interactive.

For the last six years I have worked as an examiner for Edexcel A Level maths.

All of my lessons are individually planned, based on each student's requirements. I have a wide variety of resources available to support students' learning. As a teacher, I am very approachable and supportive, and pride myself on building students' confidence in maths. I keep my lessons relevant, with varied activities, whilst ensuring the curriculum is fully covered. I always adapt my lessons to ensure that each student gains a good understanding of each topic and that they are challenged to the full extent of their ability.

For the last two and a half years, I have also worked at an online school, supporting international KS3, IGCSE and A Level students through providing formative feedback on submitted work and providing online tuition.

Topic Expertise

I have 14 years experience in teaching the full UK curriculum in Secondary, GCSE and A Level Maths. I also have over 2 years experience in teaching IGCSE maths.

My daughter had missed a lot of schoolwork and was expected to take the Foundation Maths paper. She made so much progress with Rebeka that she sat the Higher Maths GCSE.
