Since moving into teaching I have authored 6 GCSE textbooks and 2 A-level textbooks. The most important thing from your tutor is that they know the subject they are teaching inside out, so I can offer particular expertise in several history modules having produced books for them. My core area of experise is modern history.
I graduated from the University of Bath with a 2:1 in Economics and Politics and completed a Masters degree in Modern History at Canterbury Christchurch University gaining a distinction.
I spent several years in the corporate world before moving into teaching. I have taught in both the state and private sector and was most recently teaching history at an independent school in Hampshire.
Lead author of multiple A-level and GCSE textbooks. I was recently teaching history and economics in an independent school teaching at both GCSE and A-level.
The most important thing from your tutor is their depth of subject knowledge so I can offer real expertise in a number of GCSE and A-level modules having written several school textbooks across 6 different topics.
I have been a full time tutor since February 2024 and have already taught over 50 students. My tutoring style is definitely not to lecture and instead I tend to ask a lot of questions to engage the student for the whole session. There is no fixed lesson style as it depends on the student's needs but generally a good way to learn when not close to the exams, is to go through the key themes of a particular topic together and then to ask the student to work through an exam question from a past paper focused on that topic to ensure the knowledge and exam technique guidance is fully locked in. As we get close to exam time, the emphasis is less on tutor led learning and much more about working through past papers. Typically I would create a model answer and then the student can read what I have written and I would normally ask them to compare their own answer to mine so they can easily identify any areas that need improving or where information has just been left out. Exam success is 80% knowledge and 20% technique. I'm very confident I can make a big difference with both.

Very dedicated tutor who goes above and beyond.
Liam really enjoyed his session. He was stretched and challenged and now has more understanding about what he needs to do to achieve higher outcomes. A great session.
Nick has been an outstanding tutor for Nico. He has gone from failing his mocks to History being the subject he does best in. Nick has found all the extra time Nico needs leading g up to his exams and is always generous with his time. Nick advised that Nico study a few topics more than his school was covering to give him for leeway in questions. Thank goodness for Nick’s advice! Nico just sat Paper I and says he would have probably lost about 15 marks had it not been for Nick’s advice.
Nick was well prepared for our session, very personable and encouraging. Great tutor.
Really beneficial and lessons are filling the gaps in my son’s knowledge
Excellent and very helpful.
Helpful and detailed!
My son was very happy to chat to Nicholas and wanted a tutorial afterwards
