I started work as a teacher of English Language, Literature and literacy support twenty years ago.
My interests are broad and, whilst qualifying as a Special Educational Needs Co-Ordinator and occupying senior roles within schools, I have continued my academic study. I have a Masters Degree in Social Sciences and a DipHE in Creative Writing from Oxford amongst other numerous qualifications.
I have three grown up children and three small yappy dogs. I like to read, to learn and to watch action movies!
I have occupied leadership posts at a range of selective and international schools including Head of English, Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator, Head of Media Studies and Head of Psychology.
I have taught students aged 11-19, but I specialise in exam classes. I have extensive online tutoring experience with young people of all abilities. I have been an examiner for numerous exam boards including AQA and EDUQAS. I currently work for Cambridge International examining A Level English Language and Literature, Psychology and General Studies.
I have had many students successfully take up places at Oxbridge and other competitive universities.
I recently had a student achieve a staggering 98/100 on their CIE English A Level paper.
Additionally, I have many years of experience in successfully providing targeted GCSE revision classes to support young people at risk of not achieving a pass grade.

Thank you for the wonderful lesson and helping me feel much more confident before my exams!
Very insightful!
Amazing tutor. I've used about 10 hours worth of her services ALL OF WHICH WERE OFFLINEA AND MARKING FOR EXAM PREP. She is rapid, answers questions, acts like a school teacher who cares for your progress. Her marking is very similar to that of my school teacher, based on that I assume she is accruate.
Her clear and extensive knowledge helped my son and gave him more confidence for his exam. So pleased we found Gemma
