About Me

"Every communication and interaction across languages and cultures provides an opportunity to connect, inspire, and enrich understanding."

The above quote reflects how I view the importance of communication. With extensive experience and training working in innovative educational organisations in the UK and Spain, it has been inspiring to work for organisations that have promoted a supportive, inclusive environment for staff and students to grow. My learning journey has granted me extensive experience in both traditional classroom settings and more recently, the dynamic sector of remote learning. Combining formal mentoring training and experience with a naturally supportive and empathetic approach, my purpose when tutoring is to create a safe, nurturing space where learners feel valued, confident, and inspired to achieve their best.

I started out on my career in London, training in the areas of Corporate Human Resources, and Recruitment Advertising. Effective communication skills, diplomacy, and problem-solving skills were key requirements in this sector, alongside the ability to manage heavy workloads and demands. I have a keen eye for detail and enjoyed putting this to use through proofreading while working in advertising.

For entertainment and enjoyment, I can often be located in the kitchen preparing dishes for family and friends, a passion that developed and grew during my travels to Thailand, Africa and India. I also have a keen interest in educational psychology, culture and history. I am kittie-crazy and committed to promoting animal welfare.

Tutor Experience

I bring over 20 years of teaching and tutoring experience across both traditional classrooms and online platforms. My approach is eclectic and grounded in Student-Centred Learning, promoting active engagement, collaboration, and learner autonomy.

After gaining my CELTA qualification (University of Cambridge, B-pass), I taught English for International House and the British Council, gaining extensive experience in Business English, Cambridge and IELTS exam preparation, and General English for learners of all ages and backgrounds.

In the UK, I worked as a Mentor in a London State School, supporting secondary students in the Learning Support Centre. My role involved helping students overcome barriers to learning—whether academic, emotional, or social—by offering personalised guidance, encouragement, and practical strategies. It was a deeply rewarding experience, where I experienced firsthand how consistent support and motivation could make a real difference in a young person’s confidence and progress.

The transition to online teaching during the pandemic was a pivotal moment in my career. At the time, I was working as an Early Years Teacher and English Coordinator at a large private international school in Spain. Adapting quickly to virtual learning with young children was both challenging and inspiring. We had to adapt and retrain —learning how to keep students engaged, supported, and connected—especially in such formative years. This period inspired me to think of new ways to be creative, flexible, and collaborative, not just with students but also with the wider team. My passion for online education was ignited and it has led me to become a full-time online tutor, working globally with both adult and primary learners. I provide personalised support in Business and General English, Exam Preparation, and School-Based English skills—as well as helping primary students improve their writing and literacy to meet academic goals with confidence.

Topic Expertise

It gives me great pleasure to support students and help them to achieve their goals - and in some cases this may be to offer support and strategies to overcome personal barriers in the area of English communication - conferences, presentations, meetings, briefings, or the skills required to negotiate and pass the Cambridge or IELTS examinations. I have successfully motivated Business students to host important events in English, or Interview techniques by providing a range of structured classes, context, and positive feedback on performance.

I have formal qualifications in the Education sector and experience in English Language Teaching across diverse sectors, including Adult Education, Primary, and Early Years. I achieved a reputation and respect for delivering personalised, engaging, and immersive learning experiences, and I committed to enhancing teaching standards and achieving the best learning outcomes for my students.

I have embraced progressively challenging leadership roles, notably as a Literacy Subject Leader at a large international ISP school. This role required a strategic balance of planning, diplomacy, empathy, and clear communication with the School Leadership Team and the broader school community to drive meaningful change and improvement.

Key Skills:
Driving literacy improvement initiatives across Primary and Early Years education.
Leading and evaluating literacy frameworks: 'Talk for Writing', 'Active Phonics', and School Reading Frameworks.
Developing innovative cross-curricular and topic-based approaches to inspire and immerse learners.
Employing diverse methodologies and interventions to unlock my student’s potential.
Mentoring supervision and training course undertaken with local council - Secondary Education.
Native British English speaker with competent Spanish proficiency.
